Green building has been in the news for several years but new trends are beginning to emerge as the housing market begins its rebound. Forecasters are expecting 35% of new homes to be considered green. Home buyers rate the most important benefit to be a healthy place to live, the home is dry, ventilated and contaminates are limited. Second is lower operating costs this includes energy, water and lower maintenance through the use of more durable longer lasting components. In addition it is expected any of the green features cost no more or have a very short pay back period to be considered. ICF can go a long way towards building a green home, it uses less energy to maintain the living environment, it is low maintenance, and it has a smaller carbon footprint. Any additional cost using ICF is quickly paid back by lower energy costs in a very short period of time<
